Israel, September 18 (ANI): A day after thousands of pagers exploded simultaneously in parts of Southern Lebanon, air raid sirens wailed out near Israel's border with Lebanon. As the air raid sirens wailed out for the missile interception, a fire was seen near Israel's northern border with Lebanon. The incident was reported after Hezbollah promised to retaliate against Israel, accusing it of exploding the devices. At least 12 people died and nearly 3,000 were injured after series of pagers exploded in parts of Southern Lebanon on Sept 17. Meanwhile, Smoke was seen billowing out of a mobile phone shop in Sidon after hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated late on September 18. Hundreds of people were wounded in fresh blasts involving communication devices used by Lebanon's Hezbollah group. The two sides have been engaged in cross-border hostilities since the break out of Gaza conflict last October. The latest pager explosion has raised the prospect of a wider Middle East war. As per sources, Israel’s spy agency Mossad, which has a long history of sophisticated operations, planted explosives inside pagers months before explosion. In a latest development, Hezbollah released a statement stating it had attacked Israeli artillery positions with rockets since pager blasts wounded thousands of its members in Lebanon.
