Woman holds out in German treetop for 2.5 days amid flooding

Berlin [Germany], June 5: A woman has been rescued after spending around two and a half days clinging to the branches of a tree to escape floodwater in Southern Germany. The 32-year-old was finally discovered by a search drone on Tuesday afternoon, the police said. She had been missing in the flooded Silberwald, or Silver Forest, near the Bavarian city of Neu-Ulm since Saturday night. The woman was said to be was uninjured but was weakened by her ordeal and was taken to hospital suffering from dehydration.
She had been walking in the forest late Saturday when water levels began to rise. (DPA)
