President Zelensky identified 3 victories that Ukraine needs

Nov 25, 2023

Kyiv [Ukraine], November 25: Ukrainian President VolodymyrZelensky has given three key goals on the diplomatic front that Kyiv needs in the context of prolonged war with Russia.
"We need 3 victories. The first is victory with the US Congress. It is a challenge, it is not easy but Ukraine is doing everything," President Zelensky said at a press conference in Kyiv on November 24, according to Reuters.
Winning the goal he mentioned is the US Congress approving aid budget packages for Ukraine . US President Joe Biden asked Congress to pass an aid budget worth tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine last month, but this content was separated from the temporary spending law issued last week.
A group of hard-line Republican lawmakers in the US is opposing further aid to Ukraine, arguing that American taxpayers' money should be spent on domestic issues. However, the majority of Republicans and Democrats in the US Congress support additional support for Ukraine.
Ukraine's second goal, according to Mr. Zelensky, is a 50 billion euro aid package from the European Union (EU), which has been announced but has not been approved due to Hungary's opposition.
"And third is to open dialogue about our future membership (in the EU)," President Zelensky said.
The European Commission this month recommended that the EU formally dialogue to admit Ukraine and the country expects the bloc's members to agree to launch the process at the EU summit on December 14-15. According to the recommendation, dialogue should begin as soon as Ukraine meets the remaining conditions on anti-corruption, passes lobbying laws in line with EU standards and strengthens the protection of minorities.
President Zelensky said that joining the EU will be a good milestone for the spirit of Ukrainians. Speaking at the same press conference, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics was confident that the EU aid package would be approved even though it was expected to take more time than expected.
Also on November 24, Mr. Zelensky announced that he had dismissed four deputy commanders in the national guard force and appointed three new personnel, but did not specify the reason for the replacement. Nearly two years since the war with Russia broke out, fatigue has gradually appeared in the West's relationship with Ukraine, a country that is relying heavily on military, economic and humanitarian aid from its allies and allies. partners to fight Moscow. President Zelensky also said on November 24 that Ukraine is planning to reform the soldier mobilization program in the context of prolonged fighting.
