Norwegian princess' son Marius Borg Høiby goes to rehab after release

Dec 10, 2024

Copenhagen [Denmark], December 10: Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Princess Mette-Marit, began rehabilitation treatment immediately following his release from custody, his lawyer announced on Monday.
He is still there, Høiby's defence attorney Øyvind Bratlien told Norwegian media that he remains in rehab and is committed to continuing the demanding process.
It was not clear from the information precisely what Høiby, 27, is being treated for, but the Aftenposten newspaper reported that he is undergoing therapy for substance abuse.
Since this summer, several allegations have been made against the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Most recently, these included several alleged sexual offences, which he denies. In the wake of the new accusations, he was remanded in custody for a week but was released on November 27. So far, he has not been charged with any offence. After initial allegations of assault and property damage, he admitted in August that he had become violent towards his then-girlfriend. (DPA)
