Nigerian leader sends condolences to Vietnam over Nguyen Phu Trong's passing

Abuja [Nigeria], July 22: Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Sunday extended his condolences to the government and the people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam over the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.
In a condolence message, Tinubu assured the people of Vietnam of Nigeria's solidarity "at this time of grief," while expressing his profound sympathy over the loss.
He also noted the huge influence and efforts of the deceased leader in shaping Vietnam.
Trong, who served as general secretary of the CPV Central Committee and secretary of the Central Military Commission since January 2011 and also served as Vietnam's president from October 2018 to April 2021, died in Hanoi, the capita of Vietnam, on July 19 at the age of 80.
