Beijing [China], May 8: Yesterday in Paris (France), Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed with host country President Emmanuel Macron and committed to promoting a political settlement on the Iranian nuclear issue, Xinhua news agency reported.
The two leaders also called for "concrete implementation" of the two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue, and condemned Israel's policy of building settlements in the West Bank.
A day earlier, Mr. Xi denied accusations that China supported Russia in the conflict with Ukraine. "China is not a party that creates conflicts or gets involved. However, we are not on the sidelines either, we always actively contribute to achieving peace," Mr. Xi emphasized after meeting Mr. Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
For her part, Ms. der Leyen said that Mr. Xi "plays an important role in de-escalation efforts" related to "nuclear threats" from Russia, according to Reuters.
On May 6, Mr. Xi told Mr. Macron that China and France should work together to prevent a new cold war or confrontation between blocs when the world is going through many changes.
