Jan 03, 2025

Kiev [Ukraine], January 3: Ukrainian forces shot down 47 of 72 Russian drones aimed at the country in the latest attack overnight, the air force said on Thursday morning.
Another 24 drones were lost, the air force wrote on Telegram. This is usually the result of jamming. It was initially unclear what happened to the last remaining drone.
Some of the Russian drones were said to have been launched without explosives, with the aim of distracting the Ukrainian air defence, the air force said.
For its part, the Russian Defence Ministry reported 13 repelled Ukrainian drones on Thursday morning, shot down above the regions of Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk and Kaluga.
Operations at the airports of Saratov, Penza, Saransk, Ulyanov and Kazan have temporarily been suspended for security reasons, according to the Russian aviation authority Rosaviation.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army has fired on an enemy command post in the Russian border area of Kursk.
A high-precision strike was launched on a Russian command post in Maryino, the Ukrainian General Staff in Kiev said Thursday on Telegram, adding that all necessary measures had been taken to avoid hitting civilians.
The administration of the Kursk region confirmed an attack, albeit on the neighboring village of Ivanovskoye.
