Israeli intelligence chief resigns

Jerusalem [Israel], September 14: Sariel (pictured) admitted that he failed to fulfill his duties, leading to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed more than 1,200 people. Sariel has many years of experience in the intelligence field and took command of Unit 8200 in February 2021. This unit is the spearhead of Israeli military intelligence , but has been criticized for failing to stop Hamas attacks.
In recent months, media reports have said that Israeli intelligence knew of Hamas' plans in advance, but some officials failed to report them or denied the threat of an attack. In April, former Israeli military intelligence chief Aharon Haliva also announced his resignation.
