London [UK], October 4: Security forces discovered a listening device in the toilet of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson after it was used by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said his staff discovered a listening device in his personal toilet after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used it in 2017.
At the time, Mr. Johnson was British foreign secretary. "When they (security forces) did a routine check, they found a listening device in the toilet," he said in an interview published in The Telegraph on October 4.
When pressed for more details, Mr Johnson said "everything you need to know about it is in the book", referring to his forthcoming book Unleashed .
Britain's response to Israel following the incident is unclear. At the time, Israel was also accused of bugging the White House.
"Washington has concluded that Israel is likely behind the installation of cellphone surveillance devices found near the White House and other sensitive locations around the capital," US officials said.
The Israeli Embassy in London did not respond to a request for comment.
In the interview, former Prime Minister Johnson also said that Russia might not have sent troops to Ukraine if Donald Trump had been US president.
"One of the qualities of Mr. Trump is his unpredictability. That's one of the reasons why I look at how he actually behaves in foreign affairs and I contrast that with what people say about him," Mr. Johnson shared.
Specifically, he recalled Mr. Trump's expulsion of 60 suspected Russian spies, tougher stance on Syria, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and transfer of Javelin missiles to Ukraine.
Therefore, he believes that Ukraine should not worry about another term of Mr. Trump in the White House.
"If Ukraine collapses, it would be an absolute disaster. And he (Trump) understands that," according to former Prime Minister Johnson.
