Erdogan accuses UNSC of failure to stop war in Gaza

Sep 25, 2024

Istanbul [Turkey], September 25: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized the UN Security Council of failing to prevent what he called a "genocide" in the besieged Gaza Strip.
"What are you waiting for to prevent the genocide in Gaza and to say stop to this cruelty, this barbarism?," Erdogan told the General Debate at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday.
The Turkish president once again compared Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler: "Just as Hitler was stopped by the alliance of humanity 70 years ago, Netanyahu and his murder network must be stopped by the alliance of humanity."
Erdogan hailed Palestinians' "legitimate right of resistance" and called for Palestine to be recognized as an independent state.
Erdogan has in the past described the Palestinian group Hamas as a "liberation organization".
