Eight people rushed to hospital following train collision in Bucharest

Bucharest [Romania], July 20: Eight people were rushed to the hospital on Friday, following the collision between a train carriage and a locomotive at Basarab Station, according to the Bucharest - Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISUBIF).
In a statement carried by Romania's national news agency, AGERPRES, ISUBIF said, "Following a collision between two train sets, we intervened to provide qualified first aid to passengers. To optimise the response mission, the Red Intervention Plan was activated, which involves supplementing the resources that intervene at the scene.
"Until this moment, 15 people, with minor injuries, have been assisted by the first aid crews, of which eight have been transported to the hospital."
According to the cited source, 10 water and foam extinguishing vehicles, all available medical resources, two extrication vehicles, a vehicle for transporting multiple victims and a mobile hospital were rushed to the scene.
Following the collision, the occupants self-evacuated on the platform, until the fire brigade arrived. ISUBIF announced that the Red Intervention Plan has now been deactivated.
