Death toll rises to seven in Israeli strike in Syria

Nov 11, 2024

Damascus [Syria], November 11: At least seven people were killed and 14 injured in an Israeli strike on an area south of Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday.
The strike targeted members of the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah militia in the Sayyidah Zaynab area, near the capital Damascus.
Several people were injured, the observatory added.
The official SANA news agency reported that the strike hit a residential building, leaving several people killed and injured, without specifying the toll.
Israel has been bombing targets in Syria to prevent Iran and its allied militias from expanding their military influence in the country.
Israeli attacks on Syria have increased since the Gaza war began in October last year.
Israel has carried out a total of 146 attacks in war-torn Syria so far this year, according to the British-based monitoring group.
