3 dead, 17 injured in multi-vehicle crash in Philippine capital

Manila [Philippines], April 30: A speeding bus crashed into several vehicles along a busy highway in the Philippine capital on Monday night, killing three and injuring 17 others, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the multi-vehicle accident happened around 9 p.m. local time and involved a bus, a passenger van, a taxi, and five motorcycles.
Initial investigation showed that the bus first rammed into the motorcycles during a red light before crashing into the passenger van and the taxi.
The dead include a motorcycle rider and two passengers of the severely damaged van. The three victims were all taken to the hospital, where they died.
The bus driver, who has been detained by the police, claimed the accident resulted from the failure of the bus' brake.
