2 killed, 6 injured in Israeli strike in S. Lebanon

Apr 24, 2024

Beirut [Lebanon], April 24: Two Lebanese civilians were killed, and six others wounded on Tuesday in an Israeli air strike in Hanine, a municipality in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.
The anonymous sources said the casualties, including women and children, were caused by an Israeli warplane firing two air-to-surface missiles at a two-story house in the middle of Hanine.
Israel carried out seven air strikes on five towns and villages in southern Lebanon, and fired 50 shells on 12 towns and villages in the border region in southern Lebanon, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah said its fighters attacked several Israeli sites, including Ruwaisat Al-Alam, Al-Samaqa, Zebdine, Al-Malikiyah, and the Misgav Am settlement.
The military sources said that they monitored the launch of about 25 rockets from Lebanon toward northern Israel, some of which were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome missiles.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah towards Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery towards southeastern Lebanon.
